Long Day

For those of you who know do or do not know about my sister in law, Leticia, being diagnosed with breast cancer last September. This September cancer cells were found in her uterus. We spent the day at Northridge Hospital Medical Center while she underwent a hysterectomy. Everything went better than anyone expected and we are SO relieved. Nothing in her abdomen looked even remotely suspicious, no masses, lumps or anything. Hopefully the rest of the lab results that are due next week will show no other cancer. Letty is doing amazing! She was able to talk with us this afternoon in spite of all the medicine she has received and all her body has been through. Her children Matthew & Evynn are so very tough and I am so proud of how strong they are being during these very difficult times.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, make note of it! Here is a link to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure website. Here you can download and print or send away for a card with instructions on doing self breast exams. Do not be embarrassed! These exams are the key to early detection and therefore high survival rates. Start these exams early so that you will become familiar with your breast tissue, this way you will be able to easily detect any change in your breast tissue later on in life.
